Peshtigo National Bank is accepting applications for its 2026 Fair Project Scholarship Program, continuing an initiative designed to support young livestock exhibitors and recognize the dedication, responsibility, and hard work required to raise and care for animals.
Now entering its third year, the program reflects the Bank's long-standing commitment to agriculture and rural communities throughout Wisconsin. Scholarships are available to youth exhibitors participating in county fairs within Marinette, Oconto, Brown, Portage, Marathon, Shawano, and Langlade counties.
The scholarship program was launched to help offset the costs associated with livestock projects, including feed, veterinary expenses, equipment, transportation, and show-related costs. During its first two years, Peshtigo National Bank awarded more than $10,000 in Fair Project Scholarships annually, providing over $20,000 in total support to youth exhibitors throughout northeastern and central Wisconsin. Scholarship recipients have represented a wide variety of animal projects, including beef cattle, dairy animals, swine, sheep, goats, poultry, rabbits, and other livestock exhibits.
For many young exhibitors, a fair project represents far more than a ribbon or auction sale. It teaches responsibility, time management, financial stewardship, animal husbandry, and the value of hard work, skills that often carry into future careers and community involvement.
"A livestock project requires commitment every day of the year, not just during fair week," said Brian Rieth, Senior Vice President and Senior Ag Lending Officer at Peshtigo National Bank. "These young people are developing skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Whether they pursue careers in agriculture or another field, the lessons learned through raising and caring for animals are invaluable. We're proud to support those efforts and invest in the next generation."
Peshtigo National Bank has a deep connection to Wisconsin agriculture through its agricultural lending services and longstanding relationships with farm families throughout the region. The scholarship program serves as another way for the Bank to support the future of rural communities while recognizing the important role youth exhibitors play in preserving agricultural traditions.
